This week, the hometown hero Bobby Shmurda is back with another new track since his widely publicized release from prison back in February this year - finally dropping the video for “Shmoney” featuring The Migos’ Quavo and Bobby’s right hand man, Rowdy Rebel to a massive reception: already Trending #3 on YouTube with over 3.7M views and counting.
“Shmoney” is a high energy, rapid-fire banger and a testament to the things that have kept Bobby out of trouble since his return: namely money and girls. For the highflying visual (directed by Damien Sandoval), Bobby is joined by Rowdy, Quavo (who notably showed major support upon Bobby’s return), and literally dozens of models at what must be one of the biggest party mansions in New York - making it crystal-clear just how well they are doing by flashing what has to be millions of dollars’ worth of cash, jewelry, and cars.
Ever since he’s been home, Bobby has wisely been staying out the way and focused on putting out music… and/or petitioning his label to let him put out music in what has become a less than ideal situation. While his new songs like “Shmoney”, “Splash”, and “No Time For Sleep” strike a slightly different tone than his iconic early drill tracks like “Hot N***a” and “Bobby Bitch” - it really is a blessing to see Bobby and Rowdy free and making music, and it’s clear that they both still have that same magical spark that put them on the map in the first place.
Hopefully, the behind-the-scenes issues continue to get worked out because the demand for Bobby and Rowdy is off the charts - and hopefully we’ll continue to see new releases from this pair of hometown heroes in the new year.
